Getting Started

Welcome to TipCalculate! Here's how to get started with the smartest tip calculator and bill splitter.

TipCalculate is available for both iOS and Android devices:

Your First Calculation

1. Open TipCalculate and you'll see the calculator screen
2. Enter your bill amount using the number pad
3. Select a tip percentage (10%, 15%, 18%, or 20%)
4. View your tip amount and total instantly

Using the Calculator

Entering Bill Amounts

Use the number pad to enter your bill amount. The decimal point is added automatically after two digits, or tap the "." button to add it manually.

Selecting Tip Percentage

Choose from preset tip percentages:

• 10% - Minimal service
• 15% - Standard service
• 18% - Good service
• 20% - Excellent service

Use the slider for custom percentages between 0-30%.

Understanding the Results

The calculator shows:

• Tip Amount - The calculated tip based on your percentage
• Total - Bill + Tip combined
• Per Person - When splitting, shows each person's share

Splitting Bills

How to Split

1. Enter your bill amount and select tip percentage
2. Find the "Split" section below the tip options
3. Use + and - buttons to set the number of people
4. The per-person amount updates automatically

Sharing the Bill

Tap the share button to send the bill breakdown to friends via text, email, or any messaging app. The shared message includes the bill amount, tip, total, and per-person cost.

How to Upgrade

1. Open TipCalculate and go to Settings
2. Tap "Upgrade to Premium"
3. Choose your preferred plan
4. Complete the purchase through App Store or Google Play

Restoring Purchases

If you've previously purchased Premium, go to Settings > Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID or Google account used for the original purchase.

Cloud Sync

Apple Devices (iCloud)

On iOS, your data syncs automatically through iCloud when you're signed into the same Apple ID on multiple devices. No additional setup required!

Cross-Platform Sync (Firebase)

To sync between iOS and Android devices:

1. Go to Settings > Account
2. Sign in with Google or create an account
3. Enable "Sync Data" toggle
4. Repeat on your other devices with the same account

What Gets Synced

• Tip history records
• App preferences (currency, theme)
• Profile information

Account

Creating an Account

You can create an account using:

• Google Sign-In - Quick and easy, recommended for cross-platform sync
• Email & Password - Traditional account creation

Managing Your Account

Go to Settings > Account to:

• View and edit your profile
• Change your display name
• Upload a profile photo
• Toggle sync settings
• Sign out

Deleting Your Account

If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, visit our Account Deletion page. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
